The Gender Recognition Panel
The Gender Recognition Panel assesses applications from transsexual people for legal recognition of the gender in which they now live. The Panel was set up under the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and ensures that transsexual people can enjoy the rights and responsibilities appropriate to their acquired gender.

Civil Partnerships For Same Sex Couples
Message from Meg Munn MP
"....the Civil Partnership is in force from 5th December 2005, enabling same-sex couples to register
their civil parnerships from 21 December onwards. I am delighted to be the minister with responsibility
for bringing this Act into force - it is a much needed social reform which will, for the first time, enable
same-sex couples to obtain recognition for their relationships."
To highlight the arrangements being made for civil partnership, the Women & Equality Unit is
publishing regular e-bulletins, the first of which can be seen here
